Mrs Bickers Thank you Letter For Her Stairlift Install

Mrs Pat Bickers of Havant was the recent winner of a competition run in Yours magazine to win a free Acorn stairlift. She wrote to us to explain the difference it had made to her life.

"This is to say an enormous thank you for the cheque I have received after winning the stairlift in the Yours magazine competition."

"I was completely overwhelmed when I had the phone call to tell me I had won. After what has been a very sad and tragic few months after losing my lovely husband, it was the first piece of good news I had received. I cannot tell you how much it means to me as purchasing the stairlift was a big commitment for me."

Mrs Bickers was finding it harder to get up and down the stairs especially later in the day, having to haul herself up by the handrail. "My husband and I had agreed this would be the house we would stay in. It has a downstairs toilet and straight stairs; a stairlift had been in our minds for years. Compared with the cost of moving it is a good investment."

Mrs Bickers With Her Acorn Straight Stairlift

When the Acorn team visited Mrs Bickers she demonstrated a typical trip to bed with her copy of Yours magazine, handbag and glass of water and smiled as she explained how she used to have to haul herself up the stairs and the awkwardness of carrying items when you need both hands free.

"I have lived in this house for fifty-five years, the neighbours are great, we look out for each other, look after each others gardens and do odd jobs for each other. It is a good community. " The area around Havant has lots to offer with the coast nearby, great countryside and public transport nearby.

Mrs Bickers enjoys doing puzzles and has entered lots of competitions, once winning a Pondmonster but as she has no pond to clean she donated it to a local hospice who was delighted with it! "Apart from winning the odd crossword puzzle, this stairlift is the first big thing I have ever won."
