Celebrity fitness guru Mr Motivator raised energy levels to an all-time high when he visited Acorn Stairlifts’ West Yorkshire head offices and factory this week.
The superfit star – who made his name presenting fun-packed exercise routines on breakfast TV – brought a ray of Jamaican sunshine to the award-winning global stairlift company, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Famous for his tight-fitting brightly coloured exercise outfits, Mr Motivator visited every department of the head offices and factory at Steeton, near Keighley, which together employ around 460 people. He spent time chatting with staff, posing for selfies, signing autographs and motivating everyone.
“Our main advertising slogan is ‘Give your life a lift’,” remarked Acorn’s marketing manager Simon Webster, “and Mr Motivator certainly gave everyone’s life a lift when he called in to see us.”
And the man himself, whose real name is Derrick Evans, was equally impressed with the set-up at Acorn: “It’s hard to believe a company started just 25 years ago is now the world’s biggest home stairlift business,” said Mr Motivator. “There must be some really motivated people at Acorn!”
Now a very youthful 64, Mr Motivator splits his time between his home in Jamaica and work commitments in the UK, where he is in demand for promotional work and as a motivational speaker. He recently released a bestselling book of his life story, called “The Warm Up”.
