Marie Curie Patron visits Acorn

12:00am & News

Acorn’s two West Yorkshire factories were visited yesterday by important guests from the Marie Curie charity.

Christine Hamilton-Stewart MBE, a patron of the charity, and Siobhan Drane, Marie Curie’s Partner Manager, visited to thank Acorn staff for the new national partnership between the two organisations.

Under this unique partnership, Acorn has pledged to provide up to 60 stairlifts each year for people cared for by the Marie Curie charity across the UK.  This will allow the charity to support people living with a terminal illness by giving them the freedom to be cared for at home.

Christine Hamilton-Stewart MBE, who helped to raise the £3.5million funds to needed to build the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford, said: “I found the visit fascinating and was so impressed by Acorn’s organisation and the terrific atmosphere throughout the company. This is such an exciting partnership for Marie Curie and thank you so much for the support you are showing to our patients”

Siobhan Drane added: “We both really enjoyed learning more about the wonderful work you all do at Acorn. It really was fascinating. We are very grateful for all of your support and look forward to our continued work together.”

Acorn has agreed to provide up to five stairlifts each month, with an annual retail sales value of up to £135,000, for people cared for by Marie Curie across the UK.
