It's been a great start to the summer at Acorn, with news of triple success in our local Keighley Business Awards 2016.
Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise successful businesses in Keighley and the surrounding district, which includes our head offices and factory at Steeton, West Yorkshire.
Of the 10 awards presented this year, Acorn was delighted to win three – including the overall Business of the Year Award – and be Highly Commended in another.
"We're absolutely over the moon to be given such fantastic recognition in the community which is our home," said our company secretary Dave Belmont, who attended the awards evening with a number of other Acorn Stairlifts staff.
"Although we're now a multinational company with almost two-thirds of our turnover from exports, we remain strongly committed to the Keighley area which has supported and sustained our growth over the past 20 years and continues to do so. West Yorkshire is a great place to do business and we're honoured to be recognised as one of Keighley's great businesses."
Hosted by BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration, the black tie event saw Acorn Stairlifts win the Success Through Innovation and Diversification Award, and the Large Business of the Year Award. We were also Highly Commended in the Manufacturing Business of the Year category before being crowned overall Business of the Year – chosen from the nine category winners by the awards' main sponsor, Keighleybid.
"There were some fantastic businesses represented at this year's awards and we were honoured to be in such good company," added Dave Belmont.
"Our congratulations go to all the award winners and Highly Commended runners-up. It was a great night and really highlighted the strength and breadth of businesses across the Keighley district."
