Acorn Stairlifts' proactive relationship with its local Trading Standards service has proved extremely beneficial and is now being promoted as a 'beacon of best practice' for other businesses to follow.
While some companies dread a visit from Trading Standards, as it usually means they've done something wrong, Acorn instead works closely with the service to make sure it never finds itself in that position. As the old saying goes, prevention is better than cure!
For the past three years, West Yorkshire-based Acorn Stairlifts has had a 'Primary Authority' partnership with its local Trading Standards service. It means we can turn to Trading Standards for support, guidance and training in developing and enhancing our customer relations procedures, which we believe are the best in the stairlift industry.
Earlier this year our partnership with West Yorkshire Trading Standards service was Highly Commended in the national Primary Authority Awards – a first for any supplier of mobility equipment. We are also proud to have been awarded membership of the Trading Standards Approved 'Buy With Confidence' scheme, assuring our customers of exceptional treatment by an independently vetted company committed to operating in a legal, honest and fair way.
Increasingly Acorn is seen as a 'beacon business' – a shining example for others to follow – for its positive and constructive relationship with Trading Standards . Today we are honoured to be taking part in a major regional open day event, where other delegates can learn about how working with their local authorities can be beneficial.
Acorn Stairlifts Company Secretary Dave Belmont has been invited as a guest speaker at the West Yorkshire Joint Services "Big 30" event, in Leeds. He will share the podium with Jackie White, of West Yorkshire Trading Standards, who will outline the Primary Authority scheme and how it can work to benefit both sides of a partnership.
The event marks 30 years of West Yorkshire Joint Services – an organisation which delivers region-wide provision of certain services, including Trading Standards, on behalf of the five district councils which together make up West Yorkshire.
Dave Belmont commented: "Acorn Stairlifts is committed to providing outstanding customer relations and our ongoing partnership with West Yorkshire Trading Standards enables us to do that. I was delighted to be asked to speak at today's 'Big 30' event and hopefully persuade other delegates to adopt a Primary Authority partnership approach to benefit their business."
Dave is pictured speaking at the national 2016 Primary Authority Awards held in London earlier this year.
