Stairlift provides safety for stroke patient

12:00am & News

Following a stroke almost 25 years ago, Mr Woodhams of Bedford was left with disabilities which meant he was unable to get upstairs in his own home. His wife, Winifred, explains how an Acorn stairlift has changed both their lives for the better.

“My husband had a stroke in 1991 that meant he was not able to walk unaided anymore which was a huge blow as he had always been so active. We had a stairlift fitted by another manufacturer shortly after but this didn’t work properly and we had to get rid of it. Instead we got in touch with Acorn Stairlifts and our new stairlift was installed in less than a day. The two gentlemen who installed it were polite, considerate, worked quickly, and tidied up well after themselves.

"Now my husband has his independence back and can easily make it up and down the stairs as he pleases, rather than living his life only on one floor.

"The Acorn stairlift has changed both our lives as I no longer need to worry about him when he is at home on his own. When we were without a stairlift, he had even tried to climb the stairs on his hands and knees as he was so keen to get around on his own. It’s marvellous to have peace of mind and it feels as though a real weight has been lifted.

"The whole process of having an Acorn stairlift has been quick, easy and stress-free from start to finish. We would recommend them to anyone,” praised Mrs Woodhams.
