Congratulations to Steeton AFC's star striker Lee Reilly (pictured), who notched up his 200th goal for the club when he scored a hat trick at the weekend.
Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts is the main sponsor for its local football club, which plays in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division. Reilly (26) has played for Steeton – known as The Chevrons – since joining the club for the 2009-10 season, his prolific scoring helping them win promotion from Division One.
Reilly's 200th goal for the club came during Saturday's clash at Lepton Highlanders, near Huddersfield, which Steeton won 4-1. It was his 188th game for The Chevrons, his milestone 200th goal coming as his second of a hat trick during the match.
Speaking after the match, Chevrons manager Roy Mason said: "Lee has been a fantastic servant to the club and is the most natural finisher I have worked with. I am delighted for him.
"He is an example to the younger players at the club and I hope that there are still quite a few more goals left in him yet. To score 201 goals for one club is an incredible achievement and one I can't see happening again in local football."
Reilly has been Steeton's leading scorer in all of his eight seasons at the club and, with nine goals to his credit in the first seven matches of the new season, he shows no sign of letting up!
Next Saturday (September 17th) Steeton are at home to Golcar United, with kick-off at 2-30pm at the Doris Wells Memorial Field. The club are currently fifth in the league's Premier Division.
Dave Belmont, from Acorn Stairlifts, said: "We're proud to be supporting Steeton AFC as their main sponsor and we urge everyone to go along and support their local club, wherever they are. Grassroots football is the foundation of the game and exceptional players like Lee Reilly make it just as exciting to watch!"
