Need a stairlift right now? No problem for Acorn

Many of our delighted Acorn Stairlift customers remark on how fast the installation process was, and how little disruption it caused for them.

Because a stairlift is a substantial piece of equipment – and one which can make a huge improvement to your daily quality of life – many people assume it will take at least a day, or even longer, to be installed in their home. Others worry it will involve structural work, rewiring or redecorating.

In fact, an Acorn stairlift can be up and running in your home in as little as an hour, depending on your staircase, and with no mess, hassle or decorative repairs. Even the more complex curved stairlifts can be installed by our expert Acorn Stairlifts engineers in just a few hours.

When it comes to speed, Acorn is out in front in two ways. Firstly, we can have a stairlift installed in your home within a few days of your initial inquiry, even next day if urgency is paramount. Secondly, the actual installation process is fast and efficient, thanks to Acorn using its own directly employed national network of highly trained and experienced installation engineers. Let’s look at these processes in more detail:

When you contact Acorn about a stairlift, we can have one of our experienced home surveyors visit you as soon as is convenient, in many cases that same day. Our surveyor will assess your needs, measure your staircase, answer any questions you might have and provide you with a personalised quote with no hidden extras. It remains valid for a full year, giving you plenty of time to make up your mind, and we won’t pressurise you. When you decide to go ahead, we’ll book in your installation as the first convenient date and time for you, which could be the very next day if that’s what you need.

The simplest stairlifts to install are on standard straight staircases, but what sets Acorn apart is that our super speedy response also applies to more complex curved or return staircases, thanks to our FastTrack® system for curved stairlift rails. Instead of waiting weeks for a one-off rail to be designed and built in a factory, FastTrack® is a modular rail system which allows our skilled engineers to assemble a bespoke rail on site, using a wide selection of interlocking rail sections. The resulting rail can also be fine-tuned in situ so that it precisely follows the contours of your staircase.

FastTrack® has been a game-changer for curved stairlifts, enabling us to install a tailor-made Acorn Stairlift within days of your first inquiry. Why wait weeks when you can be enjoying the benefits of your new British-made Acorn Stairlift in just days, or even next day?

Turning to the installation process, for a straight stairlift it can be done in around an hour. It might take a little longer if you have options designed to suit your home, such as a hinged rail section at the foot of the stairs where the rail might otherwise cause an obstruction. It’s easy to see why a curved stairlift can take a little longer to install, but our highly-skilled Acorn Stairlifts engineers can manage it within a few hours. After all, they know our stairlifts better than anyone.

For both straight and curved stairlifts, our discreet and strong single stairlift rail is attached securely to the stairs, not the wall, so there is no major structural work involved. For wooden staircases you won’t even need to lift the carpet. No rewiring is needed for an Acorn Stairlift, which simply plugs into the nearest available domestic power socket.

Running costs are extremely low, as the stairlift only draws mains power to ‘top up’ the high-performance batteries located within the stairlift carriage. They are recharged when the carriage is ‘parked’ at the top or bottom of the stairs. Using rechargeable battery power was another Acorn innovation, which means your stairlift will keep working even in the event of a power cut, so that you are never left stranded part-way through your journey.

There’ll be no need to repaint or decorate after your installation, and our engineers clean up after themselves, so you won’t even need to get the vacuum out. A rigorous 37-point check is carried out as part of the installation, to make sure your new Acorn Stairlift is working perfectly. Our engineer will also talk you through every aspect of the simple user-friendly operation of your new stairlift and will only bid you farewell once you are entirely happy with it. Even if you think of something after the engineer has gone, expert help from Acorn is just a phone call away, 365 days-a-year.
