When Mrs Overall makes her entrance in this weekís production of Victoria Woodís award-winning Acorn Antiques the Musical at the Petersfield Festival Hall in Hampshire, it was on a genuine Acorn Stairlift, on loan from Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts.
Near the end of the show, Mrs Overall makes a grand entrance on the Acorn Stairlift which author Victoria Wood has described as "one of the centrepieces" of the show. Ms Wood has even changed the words of one of her songs to include the Acorn Stairlifts name.
"We were first approached a few years ago by an amateur group in Manchester asking to borrow a stairlift to use in the show," said Acornís Company Secretary Dave Belmont.
"Since then we have provided our stairlifts to 30 groups producing the musical across the country and were delighted to assist Petersfield Festival Hall with their version of the show last week.
"Acorn can install a stairlift within hours of receiving an order, even on special curved staircases, so it is an easy task to install one on the stage for this excellent production."
Victoria Wood has also added her thanks to Acorn: "I am delighted Acorn Stairlifts are helping local groups to stage Acorn Antiques the Musical by supplying a free stairlift. The scene with Mrs Overall on a stairlift is one of the centrepieces of the show," she said.
An Acorn Stairlift will be appearing in a production of Acorn Antiques the Musical nearer to home in November when Bingley Amateurs are staging the show at Bingley Little Theatre. Tickets for the show which runs from the 17th to the 21st November can be obtained from the Bingley Amateurs Box Office on 01274 567983.
