A splash of summer colour was the order of the day when 'Team Acorn' took part in a fun PaintRush event for its local Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
More than 70 Acorn Stairlifts staff, family and friends took part in the multi-coloured fundraiser, which saw participants pelted or sprayed with seven shades of brightly coloured powder paint as they ran or walked a 5km course.
Acorn was among several local companies sponsoring the fun event and fielded the largest team on the day, its team together raising more than £2,000.
In total more than 600 people took part in the PaintRush, which is expected to raise around £18,500 for Manorlands. Organised by the hospice's Riddlesden and East Morton support group, it was held on playing fields at Keighley, just down the road from Acorn's head offices and factory at Steeton. Everyone who took part received a commemorative T-shirt and the run was followed by a family fun day with a singer, children's entertainment and refreshments.
Acorn's Jodie McAlister, who staffed one of the paint stations, said: "It was a fantastic atmosphere on the day and everyone had great fun getting covered from head to toe in every colour of the rainbow! Well done to everyone who took part and raised so much money for a great cause."
Manorlands fundraiser Andrew Wood added: "Everyone involved worked together and did a brilliant job. Thanks go to the sponsors for their wonderful backing, all the volunteers who helped and of course everybody who took part.
"It was our first event of its type and the support group is already talking about holding the PaintRush again next year and making it even bigger and better."
Acorn Stairlifts is a longstanding supporter of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, located at nearby Oxenhope. It cares for patients with life-limiting illnesses both at the hospice and throughout the wider community. All its services are provided free to patients, but it costs £8,000 per day to keep the hospice open, with the vast majority of its income through fundraising and donations.
Last year alone Acorn staff raised almost £18,000 for Manorlands through a range of fundraising activities and are hoping to top that this year. Acorn has also donated around 25 stairlifts to Manorlands patients, enabling them to remain in their own homes.
