Acorn Stairlifts Give A Lift To The Royal British Legion

12:00am | & Community

Acorn Stairlifts of Keighley, West Yorkshire, have given a Christmas present to the local branch of the Royal British Legion, installing a free stairlift on Christmas Eve at their Keighley town centre headquarters. The older veterans will now be able to make full use of the building's facilities.

"We believe that more people buy Acorn Stairlifts in the UK than any other brand" said Acorn Company Secretary Dave Belmont. "When we heard that the veterans at the Royal British Legion in Keighley needed a stairlift, we were delighted to help out".

The donation is part of the Keighley Town Council's Business in Action initiative, in which many companies donate products and services to support the local community. Acorn Stairlifts, the largest private sector employer in Airedale, has also donated a second stairlift for a local resident who was having difficulty going up and down her stairs to the bathroom.

Acorn Stairlifts supply stairlifts throughout the UK, priding itself on its rapid installation capability. Acorn even offers a next day installation service where possible.

The Keighley Lord Mayor, Ian Wilson, is a past President of the Keighley Royal British Legion, and visited Acorn's headquarters to thank the company, accompanied by Peter Faulkner, the current Branch President, and Gordon Shaw, the Branch Poppy Organiser. "We would like to thank Acorn Stairlifts," he said, "Some of our members were struggling to walk up the stairs. Our veterans can now use all the facilities at our headquarters, which is conveniently located for them in the town centre".
